Rorouni Kenshin menceritakan tentang pengembaraan seorang samurai legendaris, nama lainnya adalah Kenshin Himura. Untuk beberapa tahun ia hidup menjadi Battousai Si Pembantai. Dia adalah yang terbaik dari semua pembunuh bayaran yang terbaik. Ia memiliki tehnik yang sempurna. Dia sukses berkat Shishio Hiko Seijuro. Beberapa tahun, dia melihat, merasakan, dan hidup dari darah para musuhnya. Pembunuhan terjadi dari ketakutan dan perlawanan dia. Dia ingin keluar dari hidup ini, dan ingin hidup damai.
